Dr. Rashwan is a Board certified Intensivist with extensive experience as medical executive, who has served as national medical director of health management companies specialized in starting Critical Care services in hospitals across the country. He has chaired multiple critical care quality and performance improvements committees, and served as an advisor and consultant on many hospials management aspects and stressed programs. His interest is quality and performance improvements as well as cost containment to ensure 24/7 coverage of Intensive Care Units accross the country with Critical Care trained specialists (intensivists) in a multi-disciplinary team work environment that improves patient care outcomes.

Graduated from Ain Shams University, School of Medicine, one of the top medical schools in Egypt in 1982, Dr. Rashwan obtained his speciality in Cardiology and Pulmonary Medicine before immigrating to the United States, where he complated a two-year multi-disciplinary Critical Care Medicine fellowship at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He has a Master’s of Medical Management from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, and is a cerified physician executive and member of American College of Physicians Executives. Dr. Rashwan is also a fellow of the American College of Physicians as well as American College of Chest Physicians. Additionally, he also is a memeber of the American Thoracic Society as well as the United Network of Organ Sharing.

He has served on the Advisory Board of Voluntary Hospitals Association from 2004 to 2007, and has been the Society of Critical Care Medicine representative for the State of Ohio on the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services Advisory Board Intermediary Cigna. Dr. Rashwan holds an academic appointment as Associate Professor of Medicine, with Ohio University Osteopathic School of Medicine.
